Projects
Service– Our Club’s focus is to serve the community, particularly its youth. We sponsor clubs for students of UC Berkeley (Circle K), as well as Berkeley and Oakland Tech High Schools (Key Clubs). We also donate to worthy causes. Members participate in service projects and fund-raising activities to provide funding for these projects and services. Through our public charity, The Kiwanis Club of Berkeley Foundation [(501(c)(3)], we award scholastic scholarships (~$40K per year) to graduating seniors from Berkeley, Albany and El Cerrito High Schools, and also summer camp music scholarships (~$1500 total per year).
Fundraising– Operating costs of the Club are covered through dues, fines and Happy/Sad Dollars (Administrative Budget). All funds raised from the public (net of direct project expenses) are returned to the community through projects and donations (Service Budget).
