A group of Berkeley Kiwanians (including brand new member Kevin C), UCBCKI members, and Shawn from Sunday Assembly East Bay came out in force to Walden Center and School. The school is getting ready for the 60th year providing child-centered education to the Berkeley community and had their kindergarten classroom completely repainted and refinished. We helped haul all the classroom furniture, books, and supplies back into the classroom from storage (Debra's classroom), rehang bulletin boards and other classroom fixtures, weeding out some hardy tap-root weeds, and apply linseed oil to ALL the exposed wooden surfaces. It's unbelievable how much we were able to get done in 3 hours! Great job Team!

Take a look at some of the fun we have at our weekly lunch meetings. We meet every Tuesday at 12:15p at Le Bateau Ivre except for the Tuesday before the 2nd Thursday (we meet in the evening that Thursday at Brennan's instead). Come join us!
We got ourselves up to Camp Cazadero with a bunch of UC Berkeley Circle K members and a team of Kiwanians. Within days we had built a new cabin (or two), set up all the beds, the stage, not to mention unpacked and assembled new beds for EVERY cabin! Great job ya'll!
Congratulations to our 2018 scholarship recipients! We look forward to hearing about your adventures in college and beyond!
Berkeley Kiwanis and UC Berkeley Circle K spent the day at delightful warm Walden Center and School, a progressive independent elementary school right here in Berkeley! We helped renovate some playground things including upgrading an old space-ship, bench, and building a new garden bench and cabinet! One Kiwanian hopped on the roof to clear the gutters, another pulled some weeds. We did some great work, and hope to work with Walden again soon.
We have just posted the 2018 Berkeley Kiwanis Scholarship application packet. Please share this opportunity with graduating high school seniors. Applications are due February 21, 2018.
